To obtain mode 6 you need to look into at least: a) your mobo chipset supports mode 
6 - might be a driver upgrade that's needed, b) check the MS article

and c) that the cabling is short and high quality.  Even so, I would not stretch 
for the higher speed unless you *really* need it.  Most folks will not.  good luck.
