Thanks for responding. First: Sorry, my bad - something else hinted that I should
look at my trusty Perfect Keyboard macro program, and, lo and behold, there was a
macro that had commandeered the Tab key. Oops - I had imperfectly crafted a macro
invocation which took my own Tab key away.
Second: I was referring to the keyboard's Tab key in my Windows user profile. This
was significant, because other users logging on to the same machine had no Tab key
trouble. So the answer had to be some change in my profile. After much teeth-gnashing,
OS-bashing and some forum-crashing, I was reminded by some other PK macro work to
look for the offending programmed keystroke. Et voila.
Lesson learned: Never give up looking for the answer.
Lesson re-learned: It's always the last place you look.
