I recently did a Win2K install from an original SP-Zero CD onto an 80 GB SATA drive,
and it ran just fine as "SP-Zero" for two hours (with several cold and warm reboots
in that time). I checked the included programs' functionality (WMP 6.4 and IE 5.01-
!!) and all worked well. Needless to say, I did NOT go on the Internet!
Of course, the very first software I changed was to install SP4, even before
installing any drivers, IE6 SP1, Windows Updates, 3rd party programs, etc..
If you had a 120 GB or less SATA drive, you COULD run Win2K SP-Zero if you wanted
to (you just need to press F6 during Setup and load the SATA driver, just like you
would for SCSI). Sane people would want SP4, though... >;^)
This system has been running for six months now without any problems, from this Win2K
install that started running as SP-Zero...
Athlon 1.1 - 512 MB RAM = 98SE & XP Home
Athlon 3000+ 64 - 1024 MB RAM = 98SE (@768 MB RAM) & XP Pro
IBM ThinkPad PIII 900 - 384 MB RAM = 98SE & XP Pro SP2
