Please revisit your post so that others on this forum will know if the solutions

Sounds like you may have a int13 error (ref rest/renew device command)
You can sometimes over come this error by moving the data cables inside the PC (master,
slave thing or put the rom on it's own cable)or Use the new a type data cable,80
lines.gray,blue,black ends.
You did say what program you are using, you may want to get a update or install a
new one to read the cd/dvd's
The int13 is a old error call and not the norm in win2k but if you are using old
software /hardware it may come into play when you try to use the device in win2k.
do a google for more help on the int13 error
