I have been using batch files for years to map drives between PC on the network for
years. Works fine between O/S versions Win98, WinNT, Win2k, but using a new batch
file to map from a Win2k workstation (\\Sys1) to a new XP workstation (\\Sys2) fails
with "System Error 67 Network Name Not Found". Using Run \\Sys2 pops it up instantly,
and I can manually map the drives using Windows Explorer, but not using the batch
file. The corresponding batch file from XP (Sys2) to Win2k (Sys1) works as expected.
NET VIEW shows the XP box as expected. How can it see it there but not from NET
USE..?! The only M$ suggestions were to add IPv6 to the XP box and/or increase LmhostsTimeout
on the Win2k box (which can't use IPv6). No good. I'm not able to use "connect
at logon" on the Win2k box, as the XP (laptop) box is not always there. Any other
suggestions? TIA.
