Not RAM I think; there is 1GB on board; no other stuff running and the 100% CPU
usage results from a simple file copy - on my working system (much slower Athlon
CPU) CPU runs at around 2% for a similar operation. Checking device manager shows
the CD and DVD on this working system to be "Ultra DMA" wheras the slow one (I found
since my post) is always marked PIO, even though it should auto select DMA. For
some reason W2K is always choosing PIO...
