No, I do not have a real answer. So just ignore this if you do not have the rime.
I can barely understand what you are trying to do. It seems that doing a manual
drive map is OK, but you can not do it in a batch on the win 2K box. You mentioned
a time out issue. That may be the crux of the matter. That kind of things does happen
in other communications functions. The manual method works, the automatic does not.
Or the other way, the auto works and the manual does not. It is the timing. Is the
a procedure to make the batch file wait for a network resource? Or why not just do
the whole thing inside of .NET or Visual Basic? You can have timing delays and error
recovery in Visual Basic that you can not easily do in a batch file.
Then there is the Keyboard Macro method. You can write a macro that does the keystrokes
just like a human. This macro can be called at start up and behaves like a human
logging into the network. These keyboard macro programs are from third parties and
for what you are doing can replace a batch file. One such is KeyText, which
is a overkill for this, but it does the job.
