if you stick the new XP cd in and say 'go', then you will lose your files. here's
what i would do: get a free partitioning tool like acronis partition expert, which
works from a cd, and make a second partition on your hard drive. install xp to this
partition, with just the graphic drivers. copy all your important files to cd or
whatever. xp has a cd-burning tool built in, i believe. after your files are secure,
format the whole hard drive, and reinstall xp on a clean partition.
