I'm having a hard time getting to grips with Windows 2000 Pro(SP4), particularly its security holes! To disable the default Administrative Sharing I created the Registry REG_DWORD key: -

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoShareServer

with a value "0", as explained on numerous web-sites. This has had absolutely no effect whatsoever! I tried changing the value to "1" then back to "0" (rebooting each time, of course) with no result.

Is there a solution?
