My Win2K Server is the fastest of any of my computers as far as web browsing goes!
This is because Firefox loves that 2 GB of RAM....
The default Windows 98 TCP/IP receive window is a pitifully low "8760"
That's perfect - if you have a 256k DSL connection!
Windows 2000, we get a default that's up to a whopping "17520"
We're good here for your 512k DSL.
What's that? You say your broadband connection is faster than 1Mb?
You better go here
and get acquainted with
DrTCP!
DrTCP = free.
Downloading at 750 Kbps+ sustained average speed with Windows 98 and 2000 = priceless!
Athlon 1.1 - 768 MB RAM = 98SE & XP Home
Athlon 3000+ 64 - 1024 MB RAM = 98SE (@768 MB RAM) & XP Pro
IBM ThinkPad PIII 900 - 384 MB RAM = 98SE & XP Pro SP2
