boy, you guys are tough. You can either restore a partition or not, which is it?
The drive was crashed before I got a chance to work on it. It is not mine, so without
asking the owner before posting help requests, I GUESSED at the the OS, not thinking
it mattered. The OS is Windows XP Pro.
As far as the drive condition, it was not making any bad noise pushing towards a
full hardware failure. Therefore, I ran SpinRite to try and repair the drive to
make it visible to XP. When I plugged the bad drive into a good, working XP system
via usb cable, the drive came up under my computer but the error said the drive was
corrupt.
So I ran spinrite, it ran a repair for 1.5hrs, I then put it back into the usb cable,
plug into XP machine, and now the xp machine sees it but only under Disk Management,
not under my computer and its asking for a format option.
So, back to my original question....Can I recreate or restore a partion on a working
drive without actually deleteing the data? I can see the raw drive now, but not
under My Computer.
That's all I ask. Thanks!
