Windows is not always right,,,  if you are sure the driver is right you can do a 
quick check, see if you can use the 256 colors this will tell you the driver will 
work if not and you can only get 16, then you will need to update the driver,   goto 
driverguide.com and have a look around..or the Mfg. of the video card (device)
