Anthony - did you solve your problem? I'm betting you had/have a hardware issue. 
You never mentioned why you formatted in the first place - usually its due to problems 
with current installation. if you then get problems during the install/early use 
(eg, driver install), nearly always a hardware issue. Unfortunately I know of no 
magic wand - just process of elimination (though RAM is a common culprit - but can 
be any hardware item).
