I don't recall an Apple II with 48 KBs, actually, but I never played with the Apple I kit computer at all. My first IBM PC had twin 320 KB floppy drives and 256 KB of RAM (I think that they were only 320 KBs). I had to get a loan from my Employee Credit Union to buy the thing -- cost over $2000 back in 1982, when that was a lot of money.
