Win98 client on Win2K Server timing out?

I'm having trouble with a win98SE box which is a client on our Win2K Server based domain. The system logs into the domain fine, accesses network resources, shared directories etc fine, but if there is no activity for a fifteen minutes or so they lose network access. Their mapped drives don't reconnect, they're just dead and they have to reboot their system and re-login to the domain to get back in. Their internet access is still working and they can "see" the other systems on the network, but can't access them. Maybe this should be in the 98 forum? It's been a couple years since I needed to work on a pc this old, and I work for a charitable org so we take what we can get. I'm not a fully trained IT pro, but I'm the best we've got and the higher-ups are cheap so any help would be appreciated. I've got 95% of the computers in this place up to XP Pro, but there are still a couple of old 98 boxes floating around to the bottom-rung employees/volunteers. Maybe the answer is to upgrade it to 2K Pro if possible?
