It says that it's a 16550a-compatible UART Serial Port. It also identifies the chipset
as an Intel 82440BX/ZX. The controller is an Intel 82371AB/EB for the usb and the
serial port is next to the usb ports, and I therefore can only find usb drivers when
I search.
I have also managed to find the serial port in the 'other devices' category. It lists
the information as IRQ 11 and 20b0-20b7.
I just thought to list this, but when I try to download drivers for the serial port
using the Update Hardware wizard, it thinks it's a US Robotics 56k Internal Voice
Modem (Model 2976), or at least it calls it that. I do have a modem on my computer,
but I never use it because I use DSL through a usb connection. What should I do about
the modem? Is it screwing up the computer's connection with the serial port?
I don't know much about computers, so I don't really understand all the stuff the
program lists. I don't mind being called stupid or a newbie or whatever, as long
as the problem is fixed in the end.
