It sounds like you should start over with a CLEAN install.
Just save your Data to a CDRW disk NOT a CDR disk then start over.
Your data= doc,email items,mp3,jpg,items you have downloaded,etc. but just your data
no system files or programs....
You will be amaze how well the new install runs with a clean install...it will be
like a new machine without all the junk that most put on the machines now days...
