Clamwin is free but it doesn't scan in real time which means you really have no protection
as files and data come in to the machine. This note from their docs:
"Please note that ClamWin Free Antivirus does not include an on-access real-time
scanner. You need to manually scan a file in order to detect a virus or spyware."
I stay away from Symantec and McAfee. Especially McAfee. To many failures when
it was needed most and crashes machines.
Do this Google search and you will get hits for Panda, Zonealarm, Kaspersky. Those
I have the best luck on customer machines. Not free, but then you get what you pay
for in today's world.
