Didn't see your post from the 10th. You said you managed to do a clean install! Which
obviously meant the hard drive was present. If it really was a clean install (ie,
you either formatted the drive or removed and created partition during the install
process), then if errors during or shortly after that, suggests a hardware problem
of some sort. But you didn't sound convinced it was a clean install!
If the hard drive is not accessible through cover on the back, it may be via a slot
in the side or under the keyboard on the front. Can you find any information online
about your thinkpad model? (google it). Hard drive should be rectangular, c. 2.5x3.5
inches, probably silver, and probably with information about it printed on.
