It's on the HD,,, if they try and replace the HD they will need the laptop software that came with the machine to do it...XP stuff and MS took care of that, I think it will work on win2k if they run the NTFS OS but a quick call or email to support would do the trick on that. Many companys use win2k and have many laptops so it's good chance it will work in win2k... Most don't want to spend any money they just want to sell it and move on the norm...
