Your BIOS must be up to date on the PC it's now on and should be one of the newer ones...that take the big HD you sometimes need to tell windows that you have one installed.. You can try the XP OS,,BUT data is always in place even the format command will not remove data and when you remove items from the HD they are still on the HD just with a new name ..about the only time you will lose data if the software put some data over the top of it that's to say if the file(s) are marked by the OS to do so..
