Sounds like deamons got in, or have you been playing with the settings? If this happened for no apparent reason, then you need to SCAN with vigour, otherwise.. left click on the grey area (at the clock if you have desktop items) hold the click and bring it to the bottom of the screen..that will put things back where they were. Then, right click the screen/customize my desktop/ check the box 'Show web content'... Please remember to repost if the solution works or not, it helps others with similar probs. Good luck.
