Hi Louis:

"Buffer Overrun" or "Overflow" is a favorite
method used by malware authors.

If your machine will run in Windows AT ALL,
I would scan for viruses, trojans, spyware, etc.

Sometimes infections are so bad, no repair short
of a full-reinstallation of Windows will correct
the problems.
