You're not being thick - I had to troubleshoot this same problem with my computer
with my husband while he was in Iraq. What he ended up doing was having a buddy download
the file and put it onto a flash drive, then running it on his machine since he was
unable to access the Internet. The file is an executable, so it can be burned onto
a disc or put onto a flash drive as two suggested methods of transporting it from
one working computer to a non-working one.
By the way, it worked like a charm. Thank goodness for small favors, I thought for
awhile he was going to have to mail the laptop home for me to repair it!
