well, i've had one devil of a time of it, but i finally got it to where i have large
icons in mycomputer and in the control panel but details in mydocuments. it's not
really permanent. it just remembers what your last setting is. so if the last time
you used mydocuments you had it set to details then it will open to details this
time. if you set it to large icons then it will open to large icons next time.
the settings that you put in my documents will not affect those in mycomputer nor
any other folder.
first off i took off the folder setting to explorer which means of course i have
lost the dual pane.
then i opened the registry and went to:
Hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\current\version \policies\explorer
look in the right pane see if you have NoSaveSettings.
if you don't fine. don't do anything. if you do, then set the value to 0.
now close the registry. follow all the steps that you said to set the folder options.
i set mine to web page and large icons in mycomputer.
after you have done this apply and ok reboot the computer.
then open the registry go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ExpView
in the right pane double click on Settings. this opens up a box. go down to the
6th line and over to the 5th double and delete it and type in 01 and hit enter.
now open streams and go to the first row on the 5th double place your cursor to the
left of it delete it and type in 04.
