Sata DVD-R/RW+R/RW

I just installed an internal sata dvd-r/rw/+r/rw drive (F:) and it is being recognized as a removable drive. The unplug/eject hardware icon shows up in the system tray. Is this normal?

OS-Windows 2000 Pro SP3
1 x Floppy A:
1 x 80gb HDD IDE (Internal) C:
1 x CD-R/RW (internal - ATAPI) D:
1 x DVD-ROM (internal - ATAPI) E:
1 x SATA DVD-R/RW/+R/RW (Internal) F:
