I just inherited an old Dell with 2000 Pro installed. I have att/sbc yahoo dsl, and I pulled out a wired router from storage to share the connection with my Mac. I plug everything in, and the Mac has no problem surfing, but no joy for the Dell. It has the status of network cable not connected. However, if I plug the modem directly into the Dell, I'm connected to the internet. I've also connected 2 other Mac laptops with no problems. I'm guessing my software settings are off, but I think I've chosen dhcp. What have I missed?
