i am running w2k SP4. last year i was getting many SYSTEMced errors at start up, so i wiped the pc and reinstalled everything. after a couple of months without trouble, the SYSTEMced error started coming back, to the point where it happens almost every day. i can clear the error and boot the computer by replaying an image using acronis true image (free version). i tried using the fix posted by microsoft, but it requires me to reinstall drivers for video, sound, and what all else. this for me is not a solution to the problem. replaying an image is faster. what i would like is a preventive solution to keep the SYSTEMced error from occuring at all, but i don't know what a "hive" is, and so on. can anyone point out what really causes this error?
