Can only assume that the XP version has been reinstalled to many times and that you
purchased it "used".. Either way it's a suspicious scenerio. Nothing you can do
unless you want to purchase new CD Key's from MS,. That will not be cheap, and they
may not be willing to help you out.. If you purchased it, you need to take up the
issue with the seller.
As for going back to W2K, you are best to wipe the disk and reinstall it from a W2K
install disk that has SP4 slipstreamed into it, unless your install disk already
has SP4. You could try a repair install but unlucky to work since you already tried
to install XP. Best to start over.. :-(
