Lots of fake USB memory drives are being sold.  Where did you buy it and what price 
did you get it for?  Kingston as well as Sony and others are being hit with fake 
memory problems.  Quite a few posts here with similar problems and most if not all 
were victims of these scams.

If it is real, it is probably defective, as evidenced by the 1 gig module working 
correctly..  I've never had to reboot for the drive letter to stick.  Sounds odd 
IME...
