No, this is not a solution, just a question. Are you sure the problem is NOT with EI rather than the server? What happens if you install a fresh copy of another bowser, like Firefox, do not import anything, and then see what it does onthe workstation. If it behaves very differently, then part of the problem is how the a browser responds to DNS errors.
