Most programs are designed for Windows 2000 SP4 and XP. Windows 2000 is NT version 5.0 and XP is NT version 5.1. Also, most drivers are designed for Windows 2000 and XP. I had an HP LaserJet 5si that didn't have XP drivers, and the Windows 2000 drivers worked.
