Here is another alternative since the win95 quickview is quite old now.

Quickviewer on executables:
Total Commander (TC) shareware (http://www.ghisler.com ) and the "Fileinfo" TC plugin
give a similar (superset) experience to quickview window.

Quickvew in general:
One typical usage of quickview for me was stepping through a folder of files using
quickview on each file in turn. TC can also do that with a lot of other file types
via "F3" viewer function and plugins exist for PDF, RTF and other file types. Integrates
with Irfanview software and plugins pack. Installing just those 4 packages gives
you the ability to step through a quickview of most of the files using "Cntl+Q" in
the main file window.

My other need is dealing with very large unsorted folders with many mixed types.
Windows preview or thumbnail views tend to crash explorer or take forever to build
the whole list of graphic previews. TC will do the job if step through folder item
by item is acceptable.

Note: For Irfanview v4.25 + full plugin pack, I am finding the first load very slow
(about 34 secs) for my machine but my old v4.1 version runs quite fast (< 0.5 secs).
I have not tested speed issue on other machines as yet, so mileage MAY vary for others
:-)

If your looking for a quickview like alternative, I highly recommended TC. TC is
suitable for power users, developers and fans of orthodox file managers and I have
used it from win 98 thru win XP.
