Many things wrong with that.

One is that I don't need IE updates. As I stated, I don't use IE. As I stated, I have it so my firewall blocks it.

Another is that Msft has no intention of removing the vulnerabilities of IE. The updates are meaningless. Indeed, they did the opposite earlier this year and hacked Firefox to put a security hole in it. They installed an invisible plug-in so it would accept the driveby installations of ActiveX. Removal could not be done by the Firefox procedures but by working with the registry.

Another is that something happened to my IE installation with 5.5 and while it functions it refuses to update to 6. It gives an update is already in progress.

Another is that Msft no longer supports Win2K. The last time they had an update for that they said would apply to Win2K, I had to go to a WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) page that rejects Win2K.

The last point is that the subject here is Shockwave Flash.
