Well, I looked around on my 2k machine (keep in mind it's only Pro, not server)
I can't find any info in the help files pertaining to services.exe (no surprise
there) but I did run it. It appeared in my Taskinfo2000 program (which btw, I recommend
you get a copy of...........makes the windows task manager look like a piece of junk)
but not in the windows task manager. If you get a copy of Taskinfo2000
and run it after a fresh boot it will give you some information (like the services.exe
being located in the \winnt\system32 folder) and some other information. You can
use it to help you (hopefully) figure out what's going on. I haven't reached any
information on services.exe in the 2000 track MCSE course I'm presently taking so
I'm afraid I won't be much help on this issue for a while at least.
