To turn off the system speaker... The article in the website mentions that you can't remove it permanently...true, but you can Disable it.... in the device manager, you can find it under System Devices, System Speaker...Should work...haven't tried it but common sense says.... By the way, you can also use this trick to "get rid" of devices that you can't get drivers for in the OS you're using (for example, a lot of TV Tuner cards don't have drivers that work past windows 98 - how nice - but having them listed in the Device Manager causes lock ups, etc...just disable them.
