Dear Sir/Madam I am a computing student in Australia and I am learning about controlling printers through code in software applications. I was researching into the timeout for printing operations and I came across this discussion forum. I have Windows 2000 on my computer. I went into the 'Printers' Icon in the Control Panel and selected the 'Ports' tabbed page and clicked on the 'Configure Port' command which displays the prompt of 'Transmission Retry' and the text box besides is enabled. So I assume that one can set a timeout period in seconds. I want to know whether the default timeout value shown here depends on the printer being used. I also want t know whether there is any way of accessing this value through program code because I am assuming that this value is linked to the relevant hardware interrupt handled by the operating system. Any suggestions will help. Regards Kumar
