Solution to 'Get Rid of the My Computer Icon'

Here's a better solution, which works fine on Windows2000 etc., but you have to do it each time you boot. Arrange your desktop icons into two groups. Put all the icons you want to hide near the bottom of the screen. Put all the icons you want to keep near the top of the screen. Now select all the icons on your desktop, and grab the top group, and move everything down, so that the bottom group disappears well below the bottom edge of your screen. Now they are hidden from view on the desktop but still visible in Windows Explorer file menus. Now wave your middle finger toward Redmond.
