I have a question about What
do I do if my BIOS is causing a problem with Windows?:

I have recently upgraded my BIOS to the latest version, and the settings keep getting messed up. I have a dualboot system, using both Redhat Linux and Windows 2000. Now, if I use Linux, I can restart or shutdown my machine as often as I want and there are no problems. However, whenever I boot into windows 2000 and restart or shutdown my machine the BIOS settings get mucked up, and reset themselves to the default settings. (Windows 2000 also takes a loooong to shutdown) The motherboard is a Gigabyte 2000bx btw, using the latest bios available from their website (version F9 i think) Now I can't just 'downgrade' my BIOS to an older version because then windows 2000 won't recognize my (Microsoft!) keyboard anymore (not even in safe mode) The keyboard works fine in Linux, regardless of which BIOS version I use :o I'm pretty sure it's not the CMOS battery because I only have this problem when I use windows. At the moment I'm just reentering the settings everytime I've used windows...but this is getting VERY annyoing. Is there any way to stop Windows 2000 from messing up my BIOS? (Preferably without having to reinstall windows 2000 ;)
