You are correct, there is no msconfig in 2000. However you can download a nice
little app called Startup Control
which does the same job and use it to control application startup. Once installed,
you can find it in your control panel (it's name will be simply "Startup") NOTE:
This doesn't affect services....if it's a service you want to stop you'll have to
go into your Computer Management MMC and stop it there (under Services)

If you know someone with XP have them find their "msconfig.exe" and then send it
to you, then put it to the C:\Winnt\System32 folder or C:\Windows\System32 depending
on how your Windows 2k directory is specified. The XP msconfig works just great
under 2000

Here's another way to do it without an app

You can also go to the run command in the start menu and type "regedit"
1. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
2. Click on SOFTWARE
3. Click on Microsoft
4. Click on Windows
5. Then Click on Run
In the right box there will be the programs that are starting up each time you log
on to your account. From here you can right click on one of the programs that you
dont want to start up and click delete.
**NOTE MAKE A BACKUP OF THE REGISTRY INCASE OF ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE YOU DELETE ANYTHING**
