Question about 'Customize Your Keyboard Mapping'

I have a question about Customize Your Keyboard Mapping:

I am trying to install the Keyboard Remap utility on a Windows 2000 machine, but it will not recognize the 'KeyRemap.Inf' file as being an installation file; it just wants to open it in notepad. Can anyone give me the steps I need to take to get Windows 2000 to install this utility? Thanks!

I tried it on my Win2000 box and it didn't work. Sure, it installed ok and gave me an extra tab on the keyboard dialog which let me map CapsLock to Left Control, but it ignored the mapping, even after a reboot. To add insult to injury, it now fails to uninstall! Gee thanks MicroGuys. I suspect that it really is only meant to be a Win95 utility. Joe Green.

To "uninstall", use regedit to delete the key "keyremap" in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Controls Folder\Keyboard\Shellex\PropertySheetHandlers. To get something that does work for win2000 (win2k) go here: http://sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/ctrl2cap.shtml
