I installed in improper download for office. After that the "'windows installer" popped up when I tried to send email (spell checker shut down), and other instances. I reinstalled office 2000 and all the problems disappeared! Reboot in safemode with Command prompt change directory to the TEMP directory (c:\winnt\temp) Look for files named MSIxxxxxxx.LOG Type or EDIT one of the files. It should say the name of the software that wasn't properly installed or uninstalled. Reboot computer with CD of software in CD Drive. The Install (or uninstall) should finish properly.
