If I'm not mistaken, there's a setting in ZoneAlarm that removes the splash screen.
Check the options on ZA.

Did you ever find out how to get rid of that splashscreen? Gee - by now, I'd pay
for a fix...;-)

Take a look here:
http://www.dgyates.demon.co.uk/splash.htm#instr
In short it says to add "-nosplash" (without citation marks) to the startup link
for zone alarm (in the startup folder).
It solves the problem. :-)
