Question about 'Customize the Tray'

I have a question about Customize
the Tray:
How can I remove tray icons from the system tray? I know I don't want to remove
them all, but there are some that are pretty useless that I could dump.
Thanks....

You can find a copy of msconfig.exe from Windows XP and copy that into your system32
folder, and then type msconfig from the run prompt. Or you can edit the run keys.
Go to start>run type in regedit. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Delete everything you don't need from that key.
Best of Luck

I think many people know this way to take out some tray icons, but it needs to stop
the program who have placed his icon in the tray .... so what will be the gratest
was to have a software that can hide SOME tray icons without shuting down the programs,
and for ejample can recall it with a hot-key.
If you know this software TELL US !!!
Thanks
Matias.

I have been using a freeware program called TraySaver that allows you to hide some
or all of the System Tray icons. I don't know if it works with XP. I use it with
win2k.
You can find the software at http://www.mlin.net/TraySaver.shtml
This guy also has a useful utility which allows you to choose which programs run
when your systems boots.

i spent a bit of time looking for a utility or even a microsoft patch/module that
would provide the functionality of XP's system tray. i found Mike Lin's Tray Saver
program and some of the interesting things he's written, but i was hesitant to install
that after reading the less than confidant info supplied there. what i did find
is not exactly the same as XP's sysTry, but this program works really well for me
on Win2000 - it's free and well-packaged (cause it used to cost money)
