Why don't I have the option to create a "Compressed (zipped) folder" in my new list?

What list are you referring to? To compress a folder in 2000 you open windows explorer, right click on the folder and click on Properties, on the General tab click on the Advanced button. On the lower half of the window that opens you get the option to compress. I'm not 100% sure offhand but you may not be able to use 2000 compression on a non NTFS partition. If your partition isn't NTFS and the "compress" option isn't available you may have to convert to NTFS first.

I just quickly double checked on my PC. The drives that are FAT32 don't have the compression option (or the "Advanced" button on the the General tab of properties) You will have to convert to NTFS to use this option which allows you to compress individual files/folders without compressing your whole drive. You can convert from inside a DOS window (Start Menu >> Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt) by typing the following command:
convert [volume] /FS:NTFS
Where [volume] is the drive letter of the volume you wish to compress.

Hmm it sounds to me like this might be what Marianne was referring to? http://www.iopus.com/guides/windowszip.htm I've just upgraded from ME to 2000 and have just spent a bit of time trying to find a way to enable the 'compressed folder' feature that I used to have w/ ME, seems that maybe it's something you can only do w/ ME or XP. :P Anyone know if this option is at all possible on 2000?
