Window automatically loads when windows starts

Does anyone know how to stop a window from automatically opening after windows starts (Win2K Prof)? I've checked the registry (HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CurrentVersion\Run) the win.ini file for (RUN= or LOAD=). Usually just closing the window and rebooting fixes this but it's not working on this particuar window (It is a mapped network drive. The window is Explorer for the mapped drive). Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no fix for this as far as I know. It's something that has annoyed me ever since I started using windows 2000. 2000 always opens a window for a mapped drive and I would like to find a cure for this myself.

I have always used "net use" from a command prompt. I am on a win2k machine with lots of networked drives and I never have a problem. Sometimes GUI's aren't the answer :) Matt

Hi Guys both Matt and Curt...

I have a script that i'm using to easy connect and disconnect mapped drives. Click
it and you are connected, click it again and you are disconnected. That meens faster
startup when you don't have to search for your mappings. I'm using it for one mapping
but you might be able to change it to be multiple mappings, who knows. It's easy
to config.
If you want to take a peak at it, just go here
and get it.

I could dummy slap myself on the forhead......and me, an old DOS man! Thanks, I never really noticed that when mapping via the net command they don't open that window. And oddly enough, I do it quite often too. It's a little more time consuming if I'm already manipulating files with windows explorer. But I have a shortct to the command prompt on my quicklaunch so it's only one mouse click away...
