Outlook Security provisions

I am using version 2000 SR1 of Microsoft Outlook. I am trying to transfer an 'exe'
file for a software programme which I requested. However, when the e-mail message
with the EXE attachment gets to my Outlook, the programme blocks access to the attachment
with a warning 'access to potentially unsafe attachement has been blocked'. I don't
mind the warning but I should be able to override this default protection when I
know the attachement is safe. However, I have scoured the help pages and checked
through these archives and can find no way to turn off this blocking. I found how
to permit macros to run but this isn't a macro.
Advice appreciated.

Heres some info on it:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q262631
You cannot adjust (to my knowledge) the features unless you are using it in conjuntion
with Exchange server.

Thanks for the information. Looks like there's not much I can do but it's rather
restrictive behaviour. And an annoyance.

Have a look at ZoneAlarm. It has a mail quarantine feature that will intercept a
configurable set of filetypes then append a .zl* suffix, consequently bypassing OL's
ridiculous knee-jerk "security".
Nick.
