I have a question about How do I stop a program from running whenever I start Windows?:

I cannot find a way to stop the My Documents window from loading when I boot into W2K Pro; also, and even more maddening, is everytime I open Explorer it opens to the Documents and Settings|%UserAccount%|Start Menu folder. I have searched the MS KB as well as other sites to find the way to change these parameters, but to no avail !hep! RonS

I use a program called startup control panel, you can run it from a floppy or cd it doesn't have to be installed, it's very small and works great. Here is a link to download it. Best of all, it's free! http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2094-1539340.html?tag=lst-0-1

Read this site carefully. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_mydocs.htm Look at: To Stop Windows Explorer from opening My Documents HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. In the right pane under Userinit, Change the key that reads: C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe To: C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,

No! It's strange, I had the same problem, and that page just helped me! (And I'm running WinXP) The fact is that I had 2 windows, but I want to use only one, but keep the old one on the other disk for the moment. And what winlogon did? Simple: it took, by first, the "explorer.exe" from the Fresh install of windows, AND then it took the second, being from the Old one! Terrible... And read carefully, eh ;)

This appears to be a trojan, possibly installed by Grokster. Grokster has released a tool to remove this trojan. Even if you didn't get it from Grokster, it's worth a shot. Go here to view more info about the DLDer trojan:
