Keyboard remap doesn't work in 2K?

The referenced article said that the original Keyboard Remap should in 2K. However, I installed it, it came up in "keyboard" in the control panel, I chose my keys, and nothing happened. So, does it really work in 2K, is there a trick to it, or what?

The problem is that 2k has a built in system file protection function. Once you reboot, windows scans your files, discovers that your keyboard layout file has been altered, and reverts the "corrupted" file back to its normal state. To get around this you have to disable this "feature" by editing the registry. Haven't done this myself for a while, and I don't remember how its done. Do a search on google for people who have problems installing dvorak drivers. You should stumble over a guide.

Same problem here. Solution:

Create a text file, call it disable_caps.reg
Following content:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,3a,00,00,00,00,00

Save it. Double-click it. Reboot.
Should work in Win2K and WinXP.
