I always re-apply SP3 (or whatever the latest service pack is) *after* installing
major programs. The problem seems to be that the applications overwrite certain
Windows .dll's and such with their own, sometimes older, versions. One of the functions
of the service pack is to re-align and, if necessary, replace the corrupted or overwritten
pieces of the operating system.
I recently had to re-install PageMaker 6.5 (6.52). By the time I got around to using
it again, I had already re-applied the service pack (probably at least twice). I
haven't had any occurrences of font problems (or anything else). Try it; it can't
hurt anything.
